5:00:00 3:00 Welcome to GR, etc. Today, Gorilla Radio sends out happy holiday wishes to all our Canadian and American listeners. For Canada, today is Thanksgiving, wherein all Canadians, with the exception of Stephen Harper, thank the lord we are not American. Thanks be to Jeebus, and Laura Secord, for delivering us from the all-encompassing embrace of Manifest Destiny. Thanks God, for sparing us the second amendment, and Charlton Heston. Thank you, Oh Holy Deity for preserving your humble Canuck servants from the awesome burden of conquest and empire. Thanks too, for universal health care, hockey, and the best damn beer on the continent! Amen.

And, it’s a holy day in the United States, too. Today marks remembrance for the founder of America, the rapacious plundering marauder, Christopher Columbus. 1492, says the great American novelist, Kurt Vonnegut, should be remembered as the date murderous pirates landed on Turtle Island and began a 500 year orgy of greed, death, and violence. Amen. Happy Columbus Day, America!

Is there still hope for American democracy? Many in the U.S. view the impending election there as more than a choice between George Bush and John Kerry; to them, this vote is a referendum on democracy itself. The mainstream press has been slow to get the point, being again happily focused on loaded polls, pundits, and trivialities. But, millions of Americans are ignoring the white-noise newscasts, instead going to the blogosphere, listening to alternative radio, and reading independent papers, and magazines. And, they’re registering to vote. Eric Blumrich is an artist, social commentator, and blogger. His site, Bushflash.org uses flash animation to marry images, text and music that deliver mind-jarring revelations of the insidious effects of George W. Bush unleashed, and the harrowing desperation of the victims of American military power. Eric Blumrich, and the information age going to the blogs in the first half.

And; Greg Palast has repeatedly scooped the U.S. networks, and newspaper elites, reporting for Manchester’s Guardian newspaper, and BBC television’s current affairs flagship program, Newsnight. He’s reported on the truth behind George W. Bush’s theft of the 2000 presidential election, the attempted theft of Venezuelan democracy, the World Bank’s willful destruction of Argentina, Enron’s looting of California, and the cosy relationship between the Bush and Bin Laden dynasties. The problem is: The men behind the curtain of America’s media don’t want you to know about these, or any of the other stories he has to tell. Undeterred by the sucking vacuum of America’s mainstream media, Greg put together a few of his greatest journalistic hits in the book, ‘The Best Democracy Money Can Buy: the Truth About Corporate Cons, Globalization, and High-Finance Fraudsters.’ Ironically, the stories the New York Times didn’t find fit to print has become a New York Times best-seller. Now Greg Palast has released a DVD, based on ‘The Best Democracy Money Can Buy,’ and featuring some of his reports from Britain. Greg Palast and ‘Bush Family Fortunes’ in the second half.

And; Janine Bandcroft will be here at the bottom of the hour to bring us up to speed with all that’s good to do in and around Victoria this week. But first Eric Blumrich flashing citizen journalism.
